Meeting Minutes - June 5, 2008
Our Mission: The Travelers Noontime Toastmaster (TNT) Club is dedicated to helping individuals improve themselves by sharpening their speaking, listening and thinking skills, all of which are necessary for success at work and at home. We provide a supportive environment with opportunities for public speaking and leadership development.

Toastmaster Chris Rucci’s tip for the day was to confront your fears. It is through facing our fears that we grow as people. Some fears are rational and indicate that something (e.g., an angry man with a rifle) is to be avoided. However, when safety is not in question, often times, the fear is not rational and it is really the unknown that is the causing the fear. So, by facing our fears we gain experience and knowledge and, suddenly, scary things aren't so scary. Once the fear is conquered, entirely new avenues of opportunity are available to us, thereby enriches our lives.
Today’s meeting was unusual that there were no speakers. The entire meeting was devoted to Table Topics. It’s rare that every one at the meeting speaks. But on June 5th every one of the 15 people in attendance had the opportunity to respond to table topics. Each toastmaster viewed an item in a bag and with out showing it to everyone, they created a story or description of the item. There were talks about favorite movies, well or not so well known singers, food, having babies, high school heart breaks, etc. Once all items in the bags were all selected, Kristi was prepared with a few additional questions to ensure that no one was left behind.
Our Quiz Master, Monica had a few questions from the Table Topic response. Everyone did a great job in listening, since all questions were quickly answered correctly. And Richard shared his tally of laughs; it seems everyone received at least one laugh! .
